Invisible Braces
Invisible braces are at the forefront of cosmetic dentistry today. While traditional braces use brackets and wires to force teeth to move, invisible braces, also called aligners, are tight-fitting retainers that you can slip through the teeth. They are virtually invisible and removable and they are designed specifically to fit your teeth.
The Process: Before the treatment begins, a 3D plan will show you how your teeth will move through the process and how they will look like at the end of the treatment.
Over a period of two weeks, your teeth will gradually shift position. You will then need to change your aligners for new ones to allow your teeth to move a little more. Through the course of the treatment and over the following months, your teeth will move into their proper positions.
While there are many options to improve your smile, invisible braces give the most comfort and effectiveness in the quickest way possible. However, aligners are not for everyone. Only an orthodontist or dentist can decide what is best for you.
The length of treatment depends on how much teeth need to be rotated or removed. The more crooked your teeth, the longer the process will take. This typically lasts between 10 to 24 months but if there’s not much to be corrected, you will need the invisible braces for as little as 12 weeks or 3 months.
Who Should Get Invisible Braces? Invisible braces are best for teens or adults. They are not recommended for children because it can be a complicated process and children’s teeth are still developing and growing. They are ideal for people with minor spacing issues or moderately crowded teeth. Those with severe spacing or crowding problems such as overbites, crossbites and underbites need more complex treatment.
